Organize: If you are submitting physical photos, place a post-it note on the back of each photo with the corresponding number on the note (we do not advise writing on the back of your photos). If you are scanning and sending your photos on a disk, name each photo the number it is to appear (i.e. “001.jpg, 002.jpg” etc.) Be sure to scan your photos at a high resolution for better DVD results. You may submit photos both physically and digitally, but please be consistent with the numbering of your photos. If more than one photo is to appear in the same frame, give those photos the same number (i.e. “42a.jpg, 42b.jpg, and 42c.jpg”).
It is very important that your photos are numbered and organized when we receive them. Reorganizing photos is extremely difficult and time consuming. Photo sorting is $25 per hour for excessively unorganized photo collections. The average charge for photo sorting is $50 - $75.
Chapters: Your DVD can be divided into chapters if you wish. This will depend on how you want to organize your DVD. For example, “Our Disney Vacation” can be divided into four chapters with photos from (1) Magic Kingdom, (2) MGM Studios, (3) Animal Kingdom, and (4) Epcot. Your “Main Menu” will include the options to (a) play each of the four chapters individually, (b) “Play All” chapters in order, or (c) “Loop All” which will continually play the chapters in order until you stop it. When you submit your order form, list how the chapters should be organized.
Titles: A beginning title and an end title (or credits) are included in your base price. The beginning title should be the main title of your show (i.e. “Happy 60th Birthday Mom!”) The end title can be a message (i.e. “We love you, Mom!”), or whatever you’d like. Additional titles can be included before, on, or after any photograph for $2 each.
Music: You may select specific songs, or simply request a certain genre of music to use on your DVD. Choose songs that are meaningful to you or the recipient of the DVD. If you would like us to select music, please provide some favorite artists, songs, or genres that you like so we can select something you will enjoy. The number of songs you will need will depend on how many photos you are using. Each photo uses approximately five seconds of screen time, so a three-minute song will cover about 36 photographs. We can sync any song to a particular group of slides. We can also fade music in/out if your photos do not last for the entire length of the song. You do not have to use the entire song and we can edit the songs as desired. Provided that your DVD is for non-commercial use, you can use any song from a CD you already own. Since you are using music you have already purchased, using this same music on your DVD is considered “fair use” of the music and does not violate copyright law. When you place your order with us, send your music CD along with your photos. Your music CDs will be returned to you with the finished DVD. If you prefer, we can purchase music on your behalf for a fee of $3 per song. You will receive any music we purchase for you on CD with the finished DVD.
Shipping: Place your photos and/or disks very carefully in sealed Ziploc bags, bubble wrap, and a sturdy large envelope or box. Ship to us via a carrier that uses a tracking service like FedEx or UPS. If you use the US Postal service, ship via Priority Mail or Express Mail. Shipping insurance is recommended. We are not responsible for damaged or lost photos during shipping. Your original photos and/or disks will be returned to you. We will send a confirmation e-mail to you when we receive your package.

Payment: Payment in full is required before work can begin on your DVD. Please send your certified check, money order, or personal check made payable to “Digital Keepsakes By Karen, LLC” with your original order. Keep in mind that personal checks must clear the bank before we can begin work on your DVD. If you prefer to pay via a credit card using PayPal, please indicate so on your order form and include your e-mail address. Once we receive your order we will e-mail a payment request to you through PayPal’s secure website. There is a $25 fee for returned checks. You cannot use personal checks to pay for expedited orders.
Preview Your Show: Allow 2-4 weeks for us to complete your DVD once we receive both your photographs and your payment. Production in less than two weeks requires an expedited fee of $100 (except in the case of funerals or memorial tributes). When your DVD is ready for preview, we will e-mail a secure weblink to you so you can preview your show. Please keep in mind that, due to uploading limitations, your show will not appear as clear as your final DVD will be. In the event that your show cannot be uploaded, we will provide you with a temporary DVD for previewing.
A maximum of two previews and two change requests are allowed before your project goes to final production. Upon receipt of your approval, final production can take up to three days. You will receive e-mail confirmation once your package is shipped with tracking number. |
